The Atlanta Board of Education is a governance team whose decisions influence more than 51,000 students, their parents, teachers and staff. The Board has nine members who are elected every four years.

As a School Board Governance team, they:

VISION Ensure creation of a shared vision that promotes enhanced student achievement

POLICY Set policy for guidance and direction of accomplishing the vision

ACCOUNTABILITY Measure and communicate how well the vision is being accomplished

ADVOCACY Promote the vision

UNITY Work with the superintendent as a governance team to lead the district towards the vision

INTEGRITY Operate openly with trust, integrity and professionalism
